Ready! Set! Play Soocer!

AYSO Region 459 wants to get back on the pitch just as quickly as possible, but the safety of our players, volunteers, and spectators is of utmost importance. This page will be updated with the most current information we have available from our State and local health officials.

Last Update: September 17, 2020

What is Return to Play?
Region 459 has adapted standards and guidelines from various sources including the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, US Soccer, US Youth Soccer Council, the AYSO National Office, and the AYSO Section 8 Area C Return to Play
Guidelines. These guidelines and specifics for Region 459 can be found using the links to the right. Our goal is to create a safe environment where Everyone Plays®!

When can our kids Return to Play?
Great news!! Our kids can play right now! Region 459 is scheduling player evaluations for the week of August 24th and will be forming Balanced Teams on September 2nd and 3rd. All registered players should attend their age divisions assigned evaluation session and after team formation, they should hear from their coaches within the the next few days.

What is this season going to look like?
That's a great question. Region 459 is committed to AYSOs Mission, which is
to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs throughout the country which promote a fun, family environment built on the foundation of our Six Philosophies.

The Executive Order 2020-180 issued by Governor Whitmer’s office on September 9, 2020 mandates the player to wear facial coverings during practices, training sessions, and while competing.

Effective immediately, all players will be required to wear a facial covering during training, practices, and competing. If we, the AYSO Region 459 families, do not comply with EO180, then our field permits will be revoked.

During training, coaches will be asked to take breaks more frequently. We have a great group of volunteers that has used Positive Coaching and Good Sportsmanship to prepare all of our players for the Fall season even when presented with these challenges.

All families, please continue to wear facial coverings to and from them fields. Spectators are required to observe all physical distancing requirements (at least 6 feet apart), and always remain 8 feet away from the personal prep stations and field.

When can we play matches?
Match Play for Region 459 begins on September 19, 2020!
EO176 and EO180 does grant organizations such as AYSO the permission to hold competitive match play as long as we follow the Governor's Safe Start directives for organized sports:

  • Participants must wear a facial covering during training, practices, and competing.
  • For outdoor organized sports competitions, sports organizers must ensure that 100 people or fewer are gathered for the event including all participants (athletes, coaches, staff, etc.)

What does AYSO Region 459 need from you?
We need your continued patience and understanding. The Return to Play Guidelines are not suggestions, these are guidelines that we must follow to remain compliant with Governor Whitmer's Safe Start directives. These guidelines are being implemented to ensure everyone's safety.
